Preparation Of Kitchen Garden

This programmed was started to promote conservation-based organic kitchen gardens to improve the nutrition of farm families in the district through vegetable and fruit production, with emphasis on indigenous vegetables . The aim was to facilitate conservation and utilization of indigenous vegetables among the community through appropriate conservation-based organic kitchen garden approaches. An internal impact assessment carried out indicated that members of the five women farmer groups trained in conservation organic kitchen gardening continued to be role models for other farmers in the district.

Organic food is gaining market share as demand of fresh and unfettered food increase among consumers. Organic, while still lacking official definition, generally means food grown or produced without the use of pesticides and preservatives, and recently, food unaffected by genetic engineering.
